Abstract

The purpose of this thesis is to produce a guidebook for building and maintaining diverse organizations. The scope of the guidebook will include describing a comprehensive process for building and maintaining a diverse organization. It will not provide step-by-step instructions for specific organizations.

The guidebook is primarily geared towards organizations that already include leaders from some of the stakeholder groups (see definitions in Chaper 1) who have made a commitment to building and maintaining a diverse organization, and/or whose mission relates to the needs and/or concerns of people from diverse backgrounds. These people will need to adapt the information in the guidebook to the specific realities in their organizations.
