Abstract

Fundraising is the most important work of managers in the local NGOs in Northern Vietnam. This research paper aimed to find what fundraising guidelines would be useful to maintain 5 local NGOs in the CIFPEN network through exploring the fundraising situation and recommending how to improve its status.

The research methodology included a literature review, a website review, and a questionnaire to gather the information from 6 websites and 5 people who knew about fundraising in 5 local NGOs in Northern Vietnam.

Many interesting findings and conclusions were found such as that local NGOs in Northern Vietnam are living with funding from foreign sources; proposal writing and organizing events have been used as the only fundraising activities among these organizations. In addition, local NGOs are faced with insufficient of funding circumstances. Thus, organizing to be ready to access a diversity of funding sources is necessary to these organizations. Many local NGOs in Vietnam could benefit from this research. Not only people who are working in the fundraising field but also many other people who have been working as managers of these organizations. Furthermore, some funders may find some ideas to support their partners who are trying to work hard to get funding from them.
