Maturing Advocacy: One INGO’s Experience in Developing Advocacy Across the Organization and Into the Programs

This year World Vision launched their first large, solo, global advocacy campaign, twenty years after the emergence of advocacy within the organization. What would take such a well resourced organization so long to progress to this point? The journey to advocacy’s maturation within World Vision is inextricably linked to the organizations own path in identifying the optimal structure for a partnership of offices in nearly 100 countries. As this link is examined, tracking the point of advocacy’s staff initiated inception to becoming a core pillar of ministry, specific focus is given to the role of North-South relations as advocacy progressed across the organization.
