Abstract

This research paper is a comparative study of The Projects in International Development and Training (PIDT), a division of World Learning, Inc. and The Mitchell Group, Inc. (TMG). These two firms are involved in the management of development programs and projects in developing countries. The main objective of the research is to compare and analyze the managerial differences and similarities of PIDT and TMG. This research is to find out what are the differences in managing international development activities between a non-profit organization and a for-profit organization. The interpretive research paradigm was used. The data was collected through review of the literature review, observation, and interviews of selected PIDT and TMG staff members. The study shows that PIDT and TMG have different organizational structure, due to the fact that the former is a bigger organization and the latter is a small firm.
