Abstract

Este estudio se enfoca en la educación superior inclusiva para personas con discapacidades en Bolivia. En la última década, la Universidad Mayor de San Simón ha visto un crecimiento grande en el reconocimiento de este tema. Sin embargo, hay mucho que hacer antes de que pueda considerarse una universidad verdaderamente inclusiva. En la investigación, yo pregunto: ¿Cuáles son los posibles caminos que se pueden utilizar para desarrollar una educación superior inclusiva? Usando entrevistas personales y un taller de escritura creativa, pinto un cuadro de la situación actual de la inclusión en el campus y de los diferentes caminos que utilizan los estudiantes y las autoridades. En el taller, que diseñé para ser abierto y dirigido por los participantes, exploramos la pregunta: ¿Cómo puede la escritura creativa presentarse como un camino alternativo para desarrollar una educación superior inclusiva? Debido a su trabajo individual con identidad y empoderamiento y con el fortalecimiento de comunidad, el estudio propongo que la escritura creativa no sólo es un camino alternativo, sino que es una herramienta esencial en esta lucha por la inclusión y contra la discriminación. El estudio escrito mezcla la escritura “académica” y “creativa” para presentar los hallazgos en una manera que manifiesta una expansión de lo que se considera el “académico” y la expansión del aula para transformarlo en un espacio para todos y todas.

This study focuses on inclusive higher education for people with disabilities in Bolivia. In the last decade, the Universidad Mayor de San Simón has seen a great growth in the recognition of this topic. However, there is much to be done before it can be considered a truly inclusive university. In the investigation, I ask: what are the possible paths that can be used to develop an inclusive higher education? Using personal interviews and a creative writing workshop, I paint a picture of the current state of inclusion on campus and of the different approaches utilized by students and authorities. In the workshop, which I designed to be open and participant-led, we explore the question: how can creative writing act as an alternative method to develop an inclusive higher education? On account of its work with individual identity and empowerment, as well as with community strengthening, the study proposes that creative writing is not only an alternative method, but an essential tool in this fight for inclusion and against discrimination. The written study mixes "academic" and "creative" writing to present the findings in a way that embodies the expansion of what is considered "academic" and the expansion of the classroom in order to transform it into a space for all.
