Abstract

"The Mirror" attempted to lead participants on a journey to build their awareness of verbal and non-verbal communication. Building upon our own experiences of verbal and non-verbal communication, we set a tone for the session through our willingness to share our differences and similarities. This tone allowed participants to recognize their own verbal and non-verbal cues and biases. Clearly, verbal and non-verbal communication can be a means to improved, stronger relationships between classmates and co-workers. Therefore, we aimed to generate awareness in participants about the impact of verbal and non-verbal communication on others, the attainability of increased flexibility, and how participants can best manage their verbal and nonverbal communication.
