Abstract
This research paper assesses whether The Foundation for Community Encouragement's (FCE) model of group process and building community is transferable to a multicultural group in Taiwan. Minimal research has been conducted which addresses the applicability of the FCE model to a multicultural group, the majority of East Asian heritage. FCE, a U.S. organization founded in 1984, developed a Western-based model of group process which facilitates the development of community through authentic communication in the form of a three-day Community Building Workshop (CBW). Since the inception of FCE, most participants of FCE's Community Building Workshops have been primarily Caucasian U.S. Americans.
