Abstract
Youth are not just the future, they are today. Youth activism is not only a way for young people to get involved in the community, but a way for young people to make positive social change. Through organized activities, young people collectively work for systemic change. The purpose of this inquiry is to ask “What are the issues and implications for youth activism?” Using qualitative research methods, this study illustrates the issues and implications of youth activism from the perspectives of student activists and educators. In addition to literature review, one-on-one interviews were conducted. The findings of this inquiry included definitional statements and purposes of youth activism as defined by student activists and educators. The implications for and the role of educators in facilitating youth activism are also discussed.
