Abstract
This Capstone paper analyzes the managerial capacity of an Ecuadorian non-governmental health organization using an organizational capacity assessment tool called "Participatory Diagnostic for Managerial Capacity". The tool was developed by the Water, Health, and Sanitation Department of CARE-Ecuador. This study seeks to answer the question: "What are the critical institutional factors that Fundación Cristo Redentor (FCR) must address in order to ensure that it remains a sustainable organization?" The data collected was used as a baseline to develop a plan for organizational development at Fundación Cristo Redentor. The organization's managerial strengths and weaknesses are highlighted. A section is included that analyzes the main strengths and weaknesses of the CARE-Ecuador organizational capacity assessment tool and compares it to other assessment tools currently being used in the field of organizational development. The research leads to the conclusion that to remain "organizationally sustainable", FCR should address and seek to improve the areas of conflict resolution, management of change, compensation systems, individual operative plans, management of meetings, and, most importantly, internal communication.
