Abstract
WIDE World is an online professional development initiative developed at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. WIDE World’s courses connect educational research about teaching and learning to improve professional practice. In the fall of 2007, the leadership team at WIDE World projected a significant growth for the organization. The goal was to increase enrollment of Spanish speaking participants by 600 percent. At the time there was no strategic or operational plan in place to address and support such an initiative. This capstone presents a one-year operational plan developed for WIDE World to reach out to the Latin American region. The operational plan includes a number of detailed efforts aimed at increasing and sustaining the enrollment of Spanish speaking learners in WIDE World’s courses. The plan focuses on three core components: program development, marketing and outreach, and business development.
