Abstract
The following paper was developed as the culmination of hands-on organizational management work with a nonprofit organic farm and educational center as well as research on a variety of related topics. The paper focuses on the value of small and family farms in New England, the economic challenges that they face, and a proposed organization redesign plan to help such farms gain economic stability while preserving their value as the base of rural communities. The experimental initiative utilized for this analysis is D Acres of New Hampshire, a family farm that has recently been converted into a nonprofit organization with an educational mission.
