Abstract

Gender violence exists in all dimensions of life, such as work, home, medical care, and related situations. Women who have experienced violence deserve to know and understand their rights. The law has changed to recognize more rights, but still the state is not fulfilling its role as a service provider. Therefore, non-state ministries, such as the Colectiva, play an important role in compensating where the state is lacking through legal services for specific and educational cases about their rights. This essay reflects on the functioning of non-state councils, supported by my internship with La Colectiva de Las Juanas.
