Description

While face-saving is a component of intercultural communication that has roots in the Chinese Confucian ideals of social harmony, it can create discord for language teachers unprepared for the nuance of these interactions. This presentation will discuss the sociolinguistic and classroom implications for working in an Asian face-saving context.
