Abstract

We – CyBelle Barthelmess, Jeremy Doughty, and Alison Droster – conducted a training on November 4, 2008, to meet the requirements of the Training Design for Experiential Learning course.

We designed and implemented a study abroad orientation to prepare undergraduate students planning to study abroad for a semester in Germany. Three major themes were focused upon: German culture, culture shock, and homesickness. The following activities were utilized: airport simulation / introductory icebreaker, cultural facts game and Power Point, case study, and application through journaling.
