Abstract
This paper addresses one approach to internal teacher development (TD) at a small private language school (LS). The action research project detailed herein attempted to develop a TD program while resolving common challenges facing such programs: contextual and resource constraints and variation in teacher and institutional needs. The project included an online self-access center, whereby it promoted autonomy in TD and the use of technology as a tool. The paper lays out the rationale and elements of the TD program at the LS; a description of the teachers and institution involved; and a description of the online resources as well as further sources of information about how to use the technology (a wiki) detailed here. Reflection, feedback and the future of the project and its further potential are also addressed.
