Abstract
In the field of Study Abroad, it should be the objective of each institution to provide a detailed pre-departure orientation for its participants. Orientation would include sessions on personal safety, host country information and responsible travel, as well as other aspects that are fundamental in preparing the participants for their cross-cultural experience. The intent of this training is to heighten the participants' awareness of what it means to be a responsible traveler and to recognize the importance of cultural sensitivity. Additionally, the participants will have a chance to discover how their own cultural baggage can hinder cross-cultural relationships and interactions.
