Abstract
This training has been created by the Red Cross to provide its volunteers going to Sri Lanka with background information on Sri Lankan culture, as well as the 2004 Tsunami and its effects. In addition, participants are given the chance to reflect on their motivations for volunteering. Finally, based on participants’ previous experiences, skills, and interests, they will be asked to design a volunteer project to begin their thinking on how they might be able to best aid the Sri Lankan community and its people, based on what they have learned and discussed throughout the training. * Please note that this document is not produced by the American Red Cross. This is a class project.
